This Victorian burr walnut chest of drawers was made circa 1860 in one of the elite cabinetmaker’s workshops of the era. Gillows, Holland and sons were the making this quality of item at that time.
Walnut chests with burr are rare, but this one is even scarcer as it has the burr walnut on the sides as well as to the top and front. Normally you expect to find the burr walnut to the top and front but with just straight grain walnut to the sides.
The chest consists of 2 drawers along the top and a further 3 graduated drawers below and then stands on the plinth.
