Queen Anne walnut fitted cabinet on chest Now Sold
This Antique cabinet with a fully fitted interior was made in the Queen Anne period.
This spectacular cabinet was made in 2 sections and stands on turned feet.
These originally were escritoires, with a fall front to provide a large writing area. In the early 19th. century the fall front became un-popular and so the fall was converted to a pair of doors, that open to reveal an interior with multiple drawers a cupboard and secret compartments. At the cornice there is a concealed cushion drawer that makes another great conversation point.
The base section is a chest that consists of 2 small drawers along the top and 2 long graduated drawers below with brass fret handles.
The Queen Anne cabinet has cross-banding around the drawers doors and to the sides. It is also fitted with velvet lined writing/work slide.
At the waist the width is 120 cms (47 1/2ins)
115 cms at the cornice (45 1/4ins)
54cms deep (21 1/4ins)
174cms high (68 1/2ins)
