Victorian brass bound small campaign trunk
This Victorian brass bound small campaign trunk was made in the late 1800’s. NOW SOLD
It was made for a British officer to transport some of his valuables when he was on campaign in the East.
As this would have been made by a local craftsman, the chest is constructed of a hardwood of the region.
The chest has flush inset brass corners and straps, not only for decoration but to add strength to it to help withstand the rigors of the journeys it was to endure on wagons, ships and railways.
These chests never fail to give a home some extra character, as well as being great conversation pieces as your family and friends will imagine the stories this could tell.
