Edwardian mahogany gentleman’s dressing chest
NOW SOLD
This Edwardian mahogany gentleman’s dressing chest is of high quality.
Although it does not have a makers mark, but I would be attribute it to have been made in the workshops of Waring and Gillow.
This dressing chest stands on chamfered square legs, with attractive corner brackets to each corner. The legs are joined by stretchers.
The chest is fitted with 4 full width oak lined graduated drawers, and the with original well turned knob handles.
The top with a sliding tambour compartment, and then the square tapered uprights above this that support the mahogany framed mirror.
Imagine a gentleman of the Edwardian period using this antique dressing chest before going out on engagements. It would have been in the home of someone of substance in the day, as this would have been at the higher end of the price spectrum when it was first made.
This lovely piece of early 20thc. furniture has been restored in our own workshops in the traditional manner, by craftsmen with over 30 years experience.
