This Antique coromandel writing slope was made in the first half of the 19thc. NOW SOLD
This exotic wood was selected for its rarity and due to the fascination of the exciting new timbers coming in from all corners of the British Empire. Coromandel wood is also known as Calamander wood and was found mainly in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka)
The writing slope founds open on hinges to reveal an inset leather writing surface.
The 2 lids that are in the interior open to reveal storage areas, but also there is a secret compartment that opens by pulling at one of the sections that are beside the ink bottles.
