This Georgian small mahogany bureau was made in the first part of the 19th century. NOW SOLD
It is a rare small size also has the well to the stepped interior.
The feature of the well was popular in bureaus until the mid-1700s. It is unusual to have this on a mahogany bureau.
The Georgian bureau is fitted 3 graduated oak lined drawers, that are below the dummy drawer front at the top that is in front of the interior well.
You pull the fall flap forward to reveal the attractive interior that not only has the well with its sliding cover but also an arrangement of drawers in a stepped interior.
The bureau has the original brass handles, also the original bracket feet.
Georgian bureaux are in my opinion a most undervalued desk, you not only have the lovely front but the extra wow when you open the fall to then see the interesting interior. Add to this you have instant tidy up when you close the fall.
Imagine working behind this desk, using traditional manner of working or using your i-pad or laptop.
Whilst we take care in measuring the sizes can be slightly different.
79cms widest 31ins
45cms deep 17 1/2ins
101cms high 39 3/4ins
