George I Walnut Bureau Bookcase in Three Sections – Glazed Top, Fitted Interior & Candle Slides (c.1715–1725)

A fine George I walnut bureau bookcase, crafted in the early 18th century and beautifully preserved. Made in three sections, the piece features a glazed bookcase top, a waist‑moulded bureau base, and a lower section that separates cleanly at the moulding for ease of transport.

The upper bookcase offers adjustable shelves behind elegant glazed doors, ideal for displaying books or decorative objects. Below, the bureau opens to reveal a fitted interior with a central cupboard, pigeonholes, and small drawers—perfect for organising documents and stationery.

Original candle slides flank the writing surface, adding both charm and practicality. The walnut retains a rich, warm patina, highlighting the craftsmanship and character expected of George I furniture.

A superb, functional antique suitable for period homes, collectors, and interior designers seeking authentic early‑18th‑century English cabinetry.
