Victorian walnut Davenport with side door
This Victorian walnut Davenport has the feature of a door to the side with its 4 drawers behind it. This was always a sign of higher quality construction, and also was more expensive to make, when it was first made circa 1860-70. NOW SOLD
The usual sloping top with a leather inset writing surface with the gilt tooling. The lid lifts to reveal the satin birch storage area with 2 interior drawers and a pair of dummy drawers.
Above the writing surface is a stationery box with a lifting lid that opens to reveal compartments and inkwell.
