This Victorian pollard oak worktable was made circa 1840. NOW SOLD
Pollard oak is a rare and desirable timber when used in furniture making, and nearly without exception only used on the best quality of items.
The grain, especially to the top gives it the look of a burr walnut but with an extra bit of fire. The lid lifts to reveal a fitted interior with lidded compartments, sections, and the original engraved M.O.P spools.
It stands on superb finely turned and carved end supports, with carved cabriole legs at the bottom of the turned column.
