This Victorian mahogany pedestal desk was made circa 1860. NOW SOLD
This striking desk is finished all round, the rear with dummy drawers the 9 working drawers to the front. The desk stands on a plinth with turned feet and castors.
The desk can be situated in the centre of a room as it is finished all around and so it looks the same front and rear.
The top has a hand dyed and gilt tooled antiqued red leather hide.
It has the desirable rounded corners, this gives the desk a softer look.
This desk is made in 3 parts, consisting of the top that is fitted 3 drawers and then the 2 pedestals that are each fitted 3 graduated drawers.
As the Victorian mahogany pedestal desk was made in into 3 parts it makes it easy to transport this around your home or office.
You should be aware that desks that are not in 3 parts normally started life as a different piece of furniture eg. dressing table or washstand and later had a leather inset to make it a desk.
