Here we have this Victorian ebonised card table that was made circa 1880. NOW SOLD
It has the influence of the Aesthetic movement that was high fashion at this time.
The card-table has the extremely rare feature of 2 drawers lined in fine mahogany in the frieze.
The top with the top laid in amboyna with an oval panel of thuya wood to the centre.
Inset around the edge is a band of ebony with fine box inlays of intertwined leaf designs.
It stands on a 4-column central base with the 4 shaped swept legs with castors under.
The hinged folding top opens to reveal the original blue baize playing surface.
