Queen Anne walnut bureau bookcase
This Queen Anne walnut bureau bookcase made circa 1705 with the lovely and most desirable feature of the ‘double dome’ with a further dome to the return. NOW SOLD
Usually these bureau bookcases have mirror plate doors, but our example has the rare feature deep fielded shaped panels. Above the sloping fall are the sliding candle slides each with a brass knob pull.
The sloping fall with burr walnut with herringbone inlay opens to reveal a stepped interior with double concave drawers and a cupboard, a sliding well that contain secret sections.
The cupboard doors to the top open to reveal a fitted interior with pigeon-holes and bookshelves, this always adds to the look and adds even more interest as it can be left open to display fine books and porcelain.
Finally, the Queen Anne walnut bureau bookcase stands on later well-turned solid walnut feet
