This Victorian Camphorwood chest was made circa 1870 when there was much upheaval and troubles in India, the untamed areas of Afghanistan, and the Northwest Frontier.

The trunk is a good large size and so a more substantial piece that the usual ones you will find.

British Officers would need strong durable chests to transport their uniforms and effects on the long arduous and dangerous journeys, hence why these trunks had brass corners to protect these, they also had the advantage of looking attractive.
