George III oak Lancashire mule chest
This George III oak Lancashire mule chest stands on ogee bracket feet.
It is an exceptional version of this form of mule chest, the lid with a raised panel is a rare feature.
The front with 4 shaped raised panels, with a pair of drawers below, that are fitted the original shaped brass back plates and swing handles.
The lid lifts to reveal the large open storage area, as well as a compartment with a lid, and an interior chest fitment.
To each end this mule chests has fielded panels.
Mule chests got their name from being neither a chest or coffer, as a mule is neither a horse nor donkey.
