George II walnut bureau

It was made circa 1740, the cabinetmaker used walnut with subtle figuring in the grain.
The 4 graduated oak lined drawers are fitted the original period swing grip handles with solid brass backplates.
The bureau stands on straight bracket feet.
To gain access to the fitted interior you lift forward the fall which reveals the pigeonholes, drawers and a central cupboard (with key)
The fall has the classic feather banding inset around the inner edge of the good wide crossbanding.
Bureaus are a wonderful piece of furniture to have in your home, not only charming to look at you have the double wow factor of the beautiful interior.
Now with the onset of the i-pad and laptop these can be stored inside when the desk is not in use and there ready once you want to work or surf the internet.
