This Edwardian inlaid mahogany glazed bookcase was made circa 1900. NOW SOLD
It was made in the workshops of James Shoolbred and then retailed by his company from their showrooms in Tottenham Court Road. The cabinet maker selected high grade timber to make this striking bookcase.
Schoolbred received a Royal Warrant in the 1880’s. To receive a Royal Warrant indicates the high quality of product he made.
This example with a pair of glazed doors that open to allow you to access the inlaid adjustable shelves.
The frieze is inlaid with designs of flowers, swags, and with angelic figures. There is banding to the top, sides, and around the doors.
It stands on tapering legs with brass ball feet under.
