Early Victorian mahogany pedestal desk

Here we have this mahogany pedestal desk that would have been made in the early Victorian period circa 1850

The desk was made in 3 sections, the is one section and then 2 two banks oof 3 drawers to each side. As they are made this way it allows for easy transportation and movement around the office or home.

If you find a English desk not in 3 sections there is a big probability that it did not start as a desk and may have been converted from another item.

The top has 3 drawers along the top and an inset writing surface of hide that has been hand coloured, antiqued and the gilt tooled around the edge. These high quality writing surfaces really make the desk look great.

The desk has the lovely feature of rounded corners to the front edge of the top and square to the rear.

Each drawer is fitted brass ring handles

137cms wide (54ins)

79.5cms deep (31 1/2ins)

75cms high (29 1/2ins)
