Art Nouveau oak pedestal desk
This Art Nouveau oak pedestal desk was made circa 1885, in a top end workshop, and then retailed in one of the top end retailers perhaps Hamptons of Pall Mall, or Maple & co.
It is of a rare design with drawers and shelves each side of the kneehole.
The top with the original inset tooled leather, it is amazing that this leather top has survived 150 years without being replaced.
Below the top drawers are a shelf each side that sit above the bottom drawer, with fine bulbous turnings on all sides. The turned legs and original castors under.
The original brass handles are very stylish and dramatic, as you would expect on a piece of Art Nouveau furniture.
