Antique kingwood writing slope
This Antique kingwood writing slope would have been made circa 1820. NOW SOLD
Having an item in solid Kingwood is very rare. Usually cabinetmakers would have used kingwood as veneer only, not in solid form.
The originally brass lock is stamped E.Turner.
The writing box opens to reveal a leather inset writing surface, as well as compartments for ink bottles and a pen and pencil tray.
Each writing surface has release catches to allow you to lift them that open to open storage space for stationery etc.
The side drawer pulls open once a brass securing pin is pulled from the interior.
This writing slope also has a book rest that has 2 pins that fit into 2 location holes of the brass binding on the outside. The slope can then be adjusted to different angles by moving the brass strut that is also flush fitted on the inside.
This Antique kingwood box is unique to us and as it has been selected for our stock you have the Hingstons Antiques brand guarantee.
