18thc. French mahogany cylinder desk
This 18thc. French mahogany cylinder desk was made circa 1785.
It was made in a top end workshop, certainly in Paris using fine mahogany and the brass moulding around the edges.
The wonderful cylinder roll opens to reveal the sliding leather lined interior, that is also fitted multiple drawers.
Above the cylinder top is a row of small drawers with a brass gallery.
Having square tapering les that stand on the original castors.
The base is fitted with an arrangement of drawers around the kneehole. The drawer to the right is a double depth drawer that is fitted a compartment with a locking lifting lid.
At each end of the desk is a pull-out slide that gives even more useful workspace.
