Victorian walnut coffee table
This oval Victorian walnut coffee table was made circa 1870. NOW SOLD
The top with burr walnut and the base of solid walnut.
The turned end supports with a pair of carved cabriole legs coming off the column and the ends joined by a turned stretcher.
Formally this table would have been an occasional table but was adapted to a coffee table later in its life.
Not until the 20thc. was there a requirement for such tables and so antique tables were adapted to suit the up to date fashion in the modern home.
