Here we are pleased to offer you this outstanding Victorian inlaid walnut sewing table that was made circa 1865.

The table follows a serpentine outline on the top that is beautifully inlaid all around with fine marquetry designs.

When you lift the lid, it reveals a superb, fitted interior, that has fine fretted birch lids.

The underside of the lid is a circular inlaid design, where the craftsman showed more of his skills of inlaying marquetry.

The lids/cover of the compartments are beautifully fretted, the circular lid to the centre lifts to reveal the well to the basket that was to store wools and needles. There are compartments to each side again with lovely lids/covers. Usually lids on there sewing boxes are damaged or missing, but we are so fortunate that these have survived 150 years!!

The Victorian inlaid walnut sewing table stands on carved end supports with carved cabriole legs; the end supports are joined by a shaped stretcher.

The underside of the table has the shaped pleated silk lined basket.

When this was first made it would have been proudly placed in the home of a wealthy family. In these days where there was no TV or radio sewing was a very popular pastime for the elegant ladies to pass time.

Imagine owning this superb piece of history and using it for sewing or as a lamp/side table.
