Victorian brass bound campaign trunk
Here we have this Victorian trunk that would have been used by a British officer to transport his uniforms and valuables around the Empire. NOW SOLD
This chest is made of teak, a timber that is able to stand up to the rigours of the journeys the chest would have to be put through.
Teak is a strong hardwood but is also resistant to seawater, as it would have been lashed to the deck of ships on its journeys around the world.
The lid open to real an open space for lots of storage as well as a small compartment for smaller items.
The brass corners were not only for decorative purposes, but more importantly they were there to give strength and protection while this was being loaded and unloaded off of pack horses, wagons and ships.
These chests are fantastic and can be used in many areas of the home. Imagine the conversations that will be struck up with your family and friends as you contemplate the history and adventures this would have been through.
This Victorian brass bound campaign trunk is unique to us, and has the Hingstons Antiques brand plate, that guarantees this to be the correct quality to enter our quality stock.
