Set of 8 William IV mahogany dining chairs

This Set of 8 William IV mahogany dining chairs would have been made circa 1820.

These are probably Scottish, the joined stretcher is a feature for chairs having this when made in Scotland.

Typically also for Scottish furniture, it is made with superb timber and  having a real pizazz to the design with good bold deep carving.

This set of 8 dining chairs consists of a pair of carver armchairs and a set of 6 matching side chairs.

The top rails with scalloped top edge, and a roundel and foliate carving to each end.

The back splat of a very rare and unusual design.

The front turned legs joined to the back legs by a block and turned cross stretcher.

The chairs have drop in seats.
