19th Century Georgian Oak Pot Board Dresser Base
NOW SOLD
A superb early 19th century Georgian oak pot board dresser base, dating to circa 1810, offering classic English country house character and excellent proportions. Crafted from solid oak and beautifully mellowed over more than two centuries, this antique oak sideboard displays a rich, warm patina and attractive natural grain throughout.
The dresser base is arranged with five drawers, each fitted with traditional brass swan-neck handles, providing practical storage for cutlery, linens, or household items. The shaped apron beneath the central drawer adds understated Georgian elegance, while the piece stands on well-turned legs united by a full-length pot board shelf — a defining feature of 18th century dresser bases, originally intended for storing pots and kitchenware.
Its generous surface and useful lower shelf make this Georgian oak dresser base ideal as a period sideboard, serving table, console, or kitchen dresser base, equally suited to traditional interiors and sympathetic modern settings.
A timeless and highly versatile piece of antique Georgian oak furniture.
