George V mahogany 3 pillar dining table

George V mahogany 3 pillar dining table

Georgian style 12 seat mahogany dining table was made circa 1920. NOW SOLD

When this large dining table was made there was an abundance of redundant Georgian timber to choose from. Usually from large cumbersome tables that were no longer in use. Cabinetmakers then could choose from this extensive stock to make large triple and double pillar tables. Not only was the case that the timber they could use was cheaper than going to the timber merchant, but the other advantage being also the colour and quality this wonderful timber gave the table.

This dining table of wonderful design and colour stands on 3 pedestals, the pedestals at each end are tripod bases and the central pedestal is a quadruple base.

All the pedestals have splay moulded legs that sweep off the fine turned gun barrel columns, that end with cast brass square toes with the rolling wheels under.

The George V mahogany 3 pedestal dining table has 2 extension leaves and so gives you many seating options, as you can use the table without the leaves or place just one or both into place.

This style of table is classic elegance and has been popular since the late 18th century when they were first designed to be used in the finest houses to entertain around.

The George V mahogany 3 pedestal dining table is a good width that will suit a dining area that is restricted to width. When this was made the wealthy were moving into smaller homes and so the need for tables of narrow proportions were required. Cabinetmakers then catered for this desire, whilst keeping the beautiful proportion of the dining table.

This dining table seats 14 plus.

Imagine entertaining your family and friends around this superb dining table and the fun you will have as you entertain and dine.
