This George I walnut bureau is the perfect honey colour.
The leather lined writing fall opens to reveal an interior stepped with a series of drawers and pigeonholes, it is also fitted a well with the sliding cover.
The wells were a useful storage area for documents and other precious items that could be locked away from house visitors and staff.
A well is an early feature, as time went on the well was superseded by having a further drawer to the front.
It has 2 half width drawers with a further 2 full width graduated drawers under.
It stands on shaped bracket feet.
