Antique Victorian brass bound military chest with some original paint
This Victorian brass bound military chest is unusual as it still has some of its original paint. NOW SOLD
This campaign chest, would have been ordered by an officer in India for transporting his personal belongings and uniforms on his journeys to different campaigns in the East.
The chest is fitted brass flush corners and strap work to protect it as it was loaded and loaded onto wagons or mules during the arduous trips it was to make.
The lid lifts to reveal open storage as well as fitments. The underside of the lid has compartments that were there to store maps and stationery.
The chest is made of teak, which has many traits that would protect the contents. Whether it be from moths and other insects, or from salt water, as it was lashed to a deck of transport ships.
These trunks make great storage items and coffee tables that are not only practical but also fantastic conversation pieces, as the imagination gets sparked by the stories these chests could tell.
