This Antique hardwood Colonial chest would have been made circa 1850.

We are pleased to offer you this Antique hardwood trunk.

This large chest was made for a very wealthy owner to store their precious silks and other valuables.

Made in a dense hardwood, and with superb blacksmith made ironwork locks and hasps.

This antique trunk, would make a fantastic coffee table and also doubles as a conversation piece.

Just the look of this chest, sparks the imagination to what it would have seen, as it was moved from a Palace or large Country residence.

The lid opens on iron strap hinges, to reveal a very capacious open storage area.

When this was made in the 19thc. the timber was not used sparingly, and the piece is substantial.  This trunk was an early form of safe and so was made to stay where it was put, and not moved very often.
